About
This track explores the relationship between architecture and built heritage, addressing design in existing contexts through a critical engagement with history to understand the constructive and formal logic of buildings and urban fabrics. Its goal is to ensure continuity, conservation, and transformation, while respecting the identity of places and responding to the needs of contemporary society. It is grounded in the awareness that the identity of built heritage, its continuity over time, and the capacity to intervene within it are vital resources for a sustainable future. The program aims to equip students with the skills to operate across architectural and urban scales, within complex territorial contexts and fragile environments. Design themes are investigated through a multidisciplinary framework that integrates theoretical, analytical, and methodological knowledge, with a particular focus on structural implications. It fosters an understanding of the coherence between composition, conservation, and construction in architectural practice.
